“We had an excellent lunch at the Cross Keys in Darfield. It was a cold, sunny, early spring day, but inside the pub, it was warm, light and airy. We enjoyed the interior dรฉcor; there was a theme of flowers wound around the top of the bar and some interesting-looking furnishings. The team had clearly worked hard to make for a pleasant experience with some talking points. The team member was attentive and friendly. She took the orders and served food and drinks to the table. We really enjoyed the food. The mini fish and chips were a reasonable portion size for a “mini” lunchtime option, and my wife found it really filling. The fish was fresh, with flaky white meat and crispy batter. The chips were home-made and perfectly cooked, fluffy on the inside and crisp on the outside. The chicken skewer was well-presented, hanging on a rack with naan bread. The skewer consisted of tandoori chicken, onions and peppers. The chicken was very tasty and perfectly cooked, served with homemade chips, salad and a sweet chilli dip. I would recommend the pub to family and friends; the food was excellent, and the service was friendly and helpful.”

“The Cross Keys pub is situated in the small village of Darfield in Barnsley. From the outside, the pub looks impressive, well-maintained and clean, having outdoor seating, fairy lighting and a flower archway entrance. Inside, the pub does not disappoint; it is decorated to a high standard, is clean and has high quality fixtures and fittings. The pub serves food, and the menu is large in choice, catering for all tastes. The food we had was large in portion size, presented well and of good quality. The staff were friendly and made us feel very welcome. The pub has a variety of promotions, including 20% off food throughout October lunchtimes, Sunday dinners and also promotes bottomless brunch events. All in all, a great pub with excellent quality food and customer service.”

“On first impressions, I was worried I wouldnโt be served as the car park was quite full. The entrance to the pub was welcoming with a beautiful green flowered garland that was lit up. The bar was the first thing I saw upon entering. I was immediately greeted with a warm and genuine smile. I was accommodated professionally. The waitress brought a menu over to my table and left me to browse. I was genuinely stuck for choice, there was something for everyone, including children. I was offered a selection of drinks and recommendations were made when I asked. The food was freshly cooked, and it was worth the wait. The portion size was generous and extremely tasty. The chicken was juicy and succulent, and it melted in my mouth. The staff were attentive and courteous without being overbearing. My table was spotless and cosy. The pub could possibly benefit from daily social media posts such as food times, specials and entertainment events etc. The pub was beautifully decorated in a contemporary style. This was a lovely little village pub. I will be visiting again, but I will book a table as advised by my waitress.”
